Freedom's Wake! By L. Don Oliver
Standing by a grave stone, History etched upon it's _; One who sacrificed his all, Is now lying in _;
He heard the beating of a drum, The beckoning call of a _; Never once thinking of himself, He went forth to pledge his _;
Into the Valley of the Damned, No thought to his own ___; For God, family and country, He dared to venture __;
Now, he is purposely forgotten, Lying in a field overgrown with __; No one there to salute his valor. Too busy with their own selfish __;
We are in the Progressive's fold, Where Freedom has become __; What we once could say before, Today, we dare not ;
When Internationalism seals it's place, And Nationalism is without any _; We have only ourselves to blame, For this Republic's eventual _;

One Yellow Rose! By L. Don Oliver
While trimming the abundant weeds, Before the event of Summer kind; A very lovely Yellow Rose, While weeding, I did find;
Where did it come from, Mine not to reason why; It was such a beautiful rose, Enough to make this one sigh;
Not wishing to cut it down, I trimmed around it's base; I espied an industrious Honeybee, Exiting it's lovely face;
The little Honeybee returned, I let the Yellow Rose lie; It's beauty to never be seen, If I had caused it to die;
