The latest effort from Cowboy Indian Bear, a seven-track EP called “Vandeventer,” will be available Tuesday as a free digital download.

Cowboy fans are probably on the edge of their seats for this recently announced and unexpected album; 2012’s “Live Old, Die Young” was a three-year project.

The album is named after the street in St. Louis that the band’s touring van broke down on last fall, causing the tour to come to a disappointing end after its first stop. The five members wanted to get something more from the experience than a canceled tour, so over the next couple of weeks members tracked new material on laptops on the trek back from St. Louis to guitarist and frontman C.J. Calhoun’s home.

They all took a hand at songwriting on this experimental record, keyboardist Katlyn Conroy said, coming out with a summer mix tape vibe. It’s supposed to be nothing like the Cowboy Indian Bear we’ve all grown to know since their formation in 2009. Download the EP here.
