Back to School is a Great Time to Get Back to Organized and Saving Money
The beginning of school is only another week away. Then we'll learn who our teachers are for the year and what classroom the kids will be in. At home, we've begun our "school routine" to get everyone back on a schedule that is more in tune with the rhythm of school days.
In the house, I've been reorganizing, rearranging and trying to start school with an organized home.....so that by the time it is decimated by the school year.... I will have memories of what once was.
Part of getting ready for the year should be cleaning out your pantry, cupboards and freezer. Take inventory of what you have on hand and start to use what you have been holding onto for a while. You will be amazed at what you already have.
Plan your menus from what you have on hand. You can still shop from the sales to keep a stock pile, but you want to keep that food fresh... use what you have first! Spending money for food that is on your weekly menus AND in your pantry is not frugal. Being organized, planning ahead and knowing what you have will help you to save money in the end.
July was the biggest month Ballard Community Center has seen for a while and their shelves have been emptied. They could really use whatever help you can give. As you go through the pantry, also take note of what items you have an abundance of and consider setting some aside for donation. Also consider setting aside a few dollars in your budget each week to pick up items that can be donated. Cereal, diapers, canned goods and peanut butter are always a need....especially with school starting.
Have a great week and Happy Shopping!
