Challenges for the New Year

Here we are…. week two in a New Year! I’m not normally a resolutions kind of gal… I prefer to reasses my life on my birthday..MY new year. This year, however there is a little room for improvement in my life so I’m stepping back and taking stock. With three kids, a husband and three blogs to keep track of… I’m finding a need for more time in my life…I need to compress the hours and get more from each and every one of them.

One of my plans for this year is to compose monthly menus in lieu of weekly ones so I have a little less time spent each week “preparing”. I will stick to my theory of planning my menus from what is on hand…and shopping sales. I’m also hoping this will help to prove a point to YOU, my readers….that you can save money using coupons and still eat a healthy, well balance diet.

What I want to know from you is this: Are you interested in seeing the menus in corelation with my shopping trips here? Sort of a “Put your Mouth Where Your Money Is” type of post? Would you like to challenge Julie and I to a month long BAN on shopping outside of perishable items? Or challenge us to a set amount of weekly spending that is different from our current budgets?

I’m also interested, as we head into this New Year, what you would like to hear about? What kind of money saving tips interest you? Maybe hearing about how to save money on your utilities? Or maybe a conversation about budget overhauls?

Of course, both Julie and I will continue to share with you some of the best deals to be had around Lawrence on a weekly basis…but in true frugal form…we want to make sure we are helping you save money in ways that are important to you!

This week I haven’t seen any incredible deals that warrant my trudging out through the snow to see the deal all the way through. You will find two inserts, a Red Plum and a Smart Source stocked with some very nice coupons this weekend. Gather them up and save those coupons as they undoubtedly will come in handy in the weeks to come!

I think, perhaps, that a freezing cold winter and cumulating inches upon inches of snow just may be the best thing for my family’s budget so far!
