Last chance to enter the 1,000,000th comment contest

There are just a few more hours left to enter our 1,000,000th comment contest.

Here's a quick rundown on the rules:

1) Guess the day when the trio of our Lawrence sites (LJWorld.com, KUsports.com and lawrence.com) will see the 1,000,000th comment posted between the three of them.

2) Guess the hour, minute and second of the day you guess that the milestone will be reached.

3) The person who is closest to the actual time that the milestone is reached wins a possibly fabulous (but certainly existing) prize package from our three sites.

4) Entries will be accepted until 10 a.m. Sept. 18, at which time all predictions must be in. After that time, a counter will go up displaying the running countdown to the milestone.

As of 9:50 p.m. Thursday, 993,050 comments have been posted. Get your guesses in while there is still time.

When filling out the info for the contest, shouldn't the time we pick also include a.m. or p.m.?

MILLVILLE, N.J. - Maybe this is why they call it High Street. Police confirm the odd-looking plants they pulled last week from a flower basket in Millville's business district were indeed marijuana.

The plants were discovered by a passer-by. Police responded to the scene with a ladder and confiscated the 3-foot-tall plants, which were growing in a basket hanging from a lamp post.

The city's parks and recreation department, which tends to the baskets, says it has no idea how the pot plants got there.

According to the rules, I would not have been able to enter anyway, but I would have lost, because I was gonna pick 10/02/2009 at 5:30 in the morning, and it looks like we're going to hit it much sooner!

Sunday night 11:11 p.m. - September 27th.

How are your list keeping skills these days, Jonathan!

If I have chosen the same time as another party, please drop them from the list.

Hey Johnathan,

I think the winning post should appear on the front page of the LJW. And I would pay 20 bucks for that paper if that post was Autie talking about 'hiz cuzins'.

I could just imagine some old guy or gal, opening up their morning paper, while sipping on a hot cup of joe and reading that on the front page. LOL! That would really make my day!

Tom-- We'll have a countdown page up tomorrow. And we'll make it easier to see on each individual comment as well. We just couldn't get it done Friday.

Put your cursor over the "permalink" tab to the left of your comment, and it shows what # it is.

Jonathan, still not identifying those hemifabilous prizes that "represent the commenting community?"
hmmm, sounds suspicious!

"You've got the winning entry! you've won: a portrait of Marion sidney lynn; free access to the online edition; your own mouse pad with Jonathan's thumbprint on it; a coffee mug with the phrase "I r a cuzin" emblazened on it; a Klondike bar; and an all-expense free evening at the Crosstown Gun and Knife Club!"

yaaaaaaay!

hey, are there ljworld cheer leaders yet?
