Saturday Night, as heard on the police scanner
Advertisement
So this is what I do; I listen to my police scanner and, as some would say, "regurgitate" what I hear on a blog. I am able to do this through the night becuase my job allows it. Before anyone can say anything- I am not neglecting ANY duties, and my employers are aware and supportive of this. That being said....Saturday Night in Lawrence...an interesting night this was. There was an odd call to the firehouse downtown. From what I could gather, some jackwagon broke in, was detained and then medical was called. There were you're regular West 24th and "the Bud" area calls- though a bit heavy on the "attempted suicides", and there were none, thankfully. Tonic Lounge got it's nightly call- some window breakage, and downtown had some ya-hoo's running around on the roofs. Then...4 a.m. hit. And it got busy. There was a code black call that I thought may have been criminal, but it turned out to be medical. A reader reported gunshots heard, and then a call came through about gunshots at a hotel on West 6th. At the same time, some poor schmuck called in to say he had gotten a ride from someone who then jumped him, robbed him and kicked him out of the car. So, check out the blog to see what you missed while you were sleeping...

I really enjoy reading the police scanner blog. I was driving home from work tonight and saw a bunch of emergency vehicles with flashing lights over by the law enforcement center and wondered what was going on, so I checked the blog when I got home, located a corresponding entry, and upon reading the comments section, got a fast update that a "Slight smell of smoke remains- smells like an 'over-heater furnace' continue to check the building, but this will probably be cleared soon- so be about your business."
This entry, and so many others in the blog, help keep me informed about what's going on in my community. It's WAY better than any reality tv show.

So this is what I do; I listen to my police scanner and, as some would say, "regurgitate" what I hear on a blog. I am able to do this through the night becuase my job allows it. ---nothing wrong with that.
---you mean people do strange things, I'm shocked! LOL! one reason I monitor a scanner too.
There were you're regular West 24th and "the Bud" area calls- though a bit heavy on the "attempted suicides", and there were none, thankfully. I think LPD should just open a branch office at 24th and deadbud. cut gas expenses.
