At 1:50, Police were called to investigate a disturbance in the 2500 block of Redbud Lane. At least two callers reported hearing a man and woman arguing. Eventually, Officers arrested the male involved. He has been booked into the Douglas County Jail where he faces charges of Domestic Battery and Criminal Restraint. No injuries were reported.
At 1:55, Lawrence Police were called to break up a disturbance near the intersection of 12th and Indiana Streets. One caller reported that there were approximately 20 subjects fighting. Those subjects were said to be coming from inside a nearby business and had also surrounded a vehicle. Officers reported the situation to be stable within three minutes of arriving on the scene. No arrests or injuries were reported.
Lawrence Police also recorded two OUI related arrests. The first was reported at 2:35 in the 300 block of West 14th Street. The subject arrested on that vehicle stop faces charges of OUI, Transporting an Open Container, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
The second arrest was reported at 2:40 in the 2200 block of Bob Billings Parkway. Charges include OUI and Fictitious Tag.
Shortly after 3:30, Lawrence Fire crews were in the area of 23rd Street and Ousdahl Road checking sanitary sewer manholes for the odor of gasoline. Firefighters remained in the area until around 5:30. Crews checked numerous manholes throughout the area and also checked levels inside Schwegler School, 2201 Ousdahl. Those crews reported readings at a few locations, nothing was found inside the school building. No other information was immediately available. The Lawrence Journal-World reports that crews were also called to this area around 11 a.m. Thursday morning after a plumber working in the area reported a gasoline odor while working on a home in the area.
None of this morning's activity was reported to have involved any serious injuries.
