September 26th Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up
Lawrence Police conducted four vehicle stops this morning. One of those resulting in an OUI related arrest.
Officers also responded on two reported burglaries. The first was reported in the 1700 block of Mississippi Street at 5:36, and the second at 5:42 in the 1700 block of Ohio Street. The Mississippi Street incident was initially reported as an auto burglary. Very limited information was available related to either incident.
Police handled one domestic disturbance in the 2500 block of Redbud Lane at 6 a.m.. No injuries or arrests were reported.
At 6:50 a.m. a Kansas Turnpike Authority Trooper reported an accident near the south toll plaza for Interstate 70 and K-10. That trooper initially reported three people with minor injuries. Two medic units were dispatched to the scene from Lawrence. Medics arrived and requested Lawrence Fire to respond with their Rescue rig for an extrication of one subject. Medics gave a triage with one critical, one serious, and one minor injury. A LifeStar Helicopter was dispatched and landed near the toll plaza, temporarily blocking traffic on K-10. The person with critical injuries was transported, by LifeStar, to Stormont Vail in Topeka. The person with serious injuries was transported by Lawrence Medics to KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. More on this accident can be found here from the Lawrence Journal-World, with new details as they become available.
