September 21st Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

At 1:54, Lawrence Police reported being involved in a foot chase with an alleged "instigator" in a battery near 12th and Tennessee Streets. Officers caught up with their suspect a few minutes later in the 1200 block of Louisiana Street. A medic unit was sent to the scene and transported a male, said to be in his early 20's, to LMH. His injuries were not said to be serious and were believed to have been related to the fight that the man himself was believed to have instigated. Those injures reportedly included several lacerations to the face and a sore jaw. The man was later booked into the Douglas County Jail on charges of Disorderly Conduct and Obstruction of the Legal Process.

Baldwin City Police responded on possible burglary at 1:59 this morning. The caller reported hearing someone turning an exterior doorknob. Police, along with a County Deputy, responded on the call and did not report locating anyone in the area. There were no reports of any damage or confirmed burglaries.

Lawrence Police responded on a report of a disturbance with weapons in the 500 block of W 14th Street. A caller reported a man armed with a knife was "making threats" in a parking lot. Officers reported locating a man in the parking lot however, no arrests were recorded related to the incident.

At 7:30, Lawrence Police were called to an address in the 1000 block of Maine Street after a caller reported seeing an unknown man climbing out of his roommate's parked van. The man was only described as appearing to be intoxicated and "bloody." Officers responded and found the man at the front door of the address. Medics were requested to the scene but, did not transport anyone from that scene. Police reported that the man was indeed intoxicated. No arrests have been recorded related to the call.

September 20th Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

For those looking that have not already seen the story, Police and Fire Medical were called to the Berkeley Flats apartments in the 1100 block of Mississippi Street at 10:14 p.m... The building that contains 1100 and 1104 Mississippi Street, was seriously damaged, with parts of the third floor said to be structurally compromised. A total of 14 residents were displaced and no injuries were reported. Investigators were back at the scene shortly after sunrise this morning working to determine the cause of the fire. Once the fire was under control, things were pretty calm in the county.

Shortly before 2:30, Police conducted a vehicle stop in the 4400 block of Adam Avenue. After administering field sobriety tests, the driver was determined to be intoxicated and was arrested.

At 4:34, Eudora Police and Firefighters were dispatched to the area of E 12th Street and Tallgrass Drive for what the caller reported to be a "plume of smoke" in the area. Firefighters arrived to report only a haze in the area. After making contact with the caller, to make sure they were all looking at the same thing, all units were allowed to clear from the call with nothing found.

September 19th Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

Police in Lawrence conducted more that 10 vehicle stops this morning, all of them after 5:30 a.m.. The Sheriff's Office also conducted a few stops throughout the early morning hours. One of the stops conducted by a Deputy resulted in an arrest for DWI and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Lawrence Police responded on two reported disturbances after 2 a.m.. No serious injuries or arrests were reported.

Shortly before 4:40, Lawrence Police were called to the 200 block of Alabama after a caller reported hearing a male voice yelling for help. The caller was unsure of where the voice was coming from. Officers located a male nearby who had apparently fallen and struck his head. LDCFM responded to the scene, it was unclear if the man was transported from that scene or not.

Officers were called to an address in the 600 block of Walnut around 5:30 for two subjects reportedly burglarizing vehicles. The caller reported seeing the suspects in at least one vehicle. That caller could only describe the suspects as being dressed in dark clothing. The two suspects were last seen walking southbound on 7th Street. Police reported one vehicle that the suspects were seen inside was left unlocked. There were no reports of any damage or arrests.

Around 7 a.m., Police were called to the area of 9th and Iowa after two callers reported hearing what they believed to be gunfire to the east of the intersection. Officers checked the area and determined the sounds to be related to fireworks. It was unclear if officers caught up with the people responsible or not.

September 18th Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

Lawrence Police investigated several reported burglaries this morning. The first was reported in the 1700 block of Ohio Street at 3:36. The caller believed that their neighbor may have been the victim of a burglary after hearing glass breaking. At least four officers responded on the call. As of this report, no arrests have been recorded and there was no description of any possible suspects.

The second burglary was reported at 6:28, in the 1000 block of Tennessee Street. This time a resident reported awaking to the sound of things breaking on the first floor. Police arrived and reported locating a broken window on the back of the address. That officer also reported that there was no sign of forced entry. Again, there have been no arrests recorded and no description of any possible suspects was available.

September 17th Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

Lawrence Police conducted at least 12 vehicle stops this morning, most coming after 7 a.m.. Police responded on one report of a disturbance at 4:28, no injuries were reported.

Officers investigate two non-injury accidents this morning. The first in the 1300 block of W 6th Street at 7:12 and the second in the 700 block of Vermont at 7:55 a.m..

At 7:40, Police were called to an address in the 2700 block of Meadow Place for the theft of pink flamingos from the yard. Two officers responded and received information on a possible suspect from the victim.

September 16th Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

Law enforcement throughout Douglas County recorded five OUI/DWI related arrests.

Shortly after 3 a.m., Lawrence Police received a report from a Safe Ride supervisor regarding one of their drivers being battered. It was not immediately clear when the alleged incident occurred. The suspect, only described as a white male wearing a gray sweatshirt and blue jeans, was last seen on foot in the area of McCollum Hall. The driver reportedly told his supervisor that the suspect punched him in the head, no injuries were reported. KUPD also checked the area of McCollum Hall and did not report locating anyone matching the description.

Lawrence Police responded on numerous noise complaints, and conducted several vehicle stops.

At 4:19, Police were called to investigate a non-injury accident in the 1700 block of Tennessee Street. At least five officers were attached to the call at one point.

Officers investigated a burglary in the 1300 block of E 21st Terrace at 4:25 a.m.. The caller reported a neighbor was "breaking the door down." Just before officers began to arrive the caller told dispatchers that the subject was now inside the house and refusing to leave. No injuries were reported.

September 15th Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

A fairly normal Saturday morning in Lawrence. Around closing time, police conducted numerous pedestrian checks along Mass Street and responded on at least two fights in the normal areas of town. The Kansas Highway Patrol recorded one DWI arrest on I-70 in the county.

Officers were also called to a reported burglary in the 900 block of Maine Street. Very few details were available. Officers on that scene did not request a report number, so it remains unclear if any crime occurred.

September 13th Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

Officers in Lawrence conducted about 10 vehicle stops this morning, one resulting in an arrest. The subject who was arrested faces charges of OUI, Purchase/Possession/Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor, and Possession/Use of a Fake Driver's License.

Police also responded on numerous burglary alarms throughout the morning hours. One alarm was called in by a neighbor around 5 a.m.. That neighbor reported hearing an audible alarm and a person screaming in the area. Police checked that area and were unable to locate an audible alarm or anyone in distress.

Another pretty quiet morning in Douglas County.

Police were called to investigate two 911 hang up calls and at least two animal complaints.

Officers were also called to investigate a burglary in the 900 block of Missouri Street. The burglary was reported at 6:30 a.m., it was not clear when the burglary actually occurred, and no suspect information was available.

None of this morning's activity was reported to have resulted in any serious injuries.

September 11th Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

A pretty quiet morning in Douglas County.

Lawrence Police were called to the area of 31st Street and Ousdahl Road on a report of a single gunshot heard in the area. One caller reported hearing what she believed to be a single gunshot. Several Officers responded to check the area, no signs of any gunfire were reported.

Other than that, Police conducted a few vehicle stops and responded on one report of a suspicious person. None of this morning's activity was reported to have involved any serious injuries.
