January 19th Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire Medical wrap up
Officers in Lawrence conducted 12 vehicle stops this morning. As of 5:45 this morning, none of those stops seem to have resulted in DUI/DWI/OUI related arrests. Police also responded on four noise complaints, and seven disturbances.
Around 3 a.m. an Officer reported being flagged down by a subject who was reporting her vehicle had been stolen from the 800 block of W. 24th Street while she was at Club Magic. The vehicle was believed to have been last seen westbound on W. 23rd Street from the area.
At 4:36 a.m., Police and Fire Medical crews were dispatched on a single vehicle accident in the 1000 block of N. 3rd Street. A vehicle reportedly left the roadway and struck a tree, nearly head on. The driver of the vehicle was said to be pinned "under the dash". Crews worked for about 15 minutes to free the man from the wreckage. The man's injuries were said to be critical. He was transported by an ambulance to Lawrence Municipal Airport where a LifeStar helicopter was standing by to transport to a Kansas City area trauma center. A passenger in the vehicle was able to walk away. The driver was reportedly not wearing a seat belt. It was unclear if the passenger was wearing a seat belt or not. Police continue to investigate. Aside from the accident, no other serious injuries were reported with any of this morning's activity.

December 7th Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire Medical wrap up
First responders were kept very busy this morning in Lawrence.
At 1:51 Police were called to the 1200 block of Indiana Street following reports of a large disturbance. At least two callers reported as many as 10 subjects fighting in the area. Lawrence and KU Police arrived in the area and broke up several people who were fighting. No injuries or arrests were reported. There were at least 10 units assigned to this call.
At 1:56 Police and Fire Medical crews were called to 916 Indian Street for a report of a possible structure fire. A caller reported a heater was on fire next to the building. Fire crews arrived and reported a small fire near the side of the building. The fire was quickly extinguished.
Lawrence Police and Fire Medical crews were sent to an address in the 1200 block of Ohio Street at 2:07 a.m.. The incident was dispatched as a "Medical Emergency" however, after units arrived on scene a LifeStar helicopter was requested to respond to Memorial Stadium to transport a trauma patient. At 2:58 a.m., LifeStar went in route from Memorial Stadium to the University of Kansas Medical Center. Radio traffic indicated that the injured person is a college aged male with critical injuries. He was reportedly intoxicated and said to have fallen from a third floor balcony. No other information was immediately available regarding the circumstances surrounding this incident. Operation 100 News notified the Lawrence Journal-World of this incident. Stay tuned for updated details, if there is anything further to be reported.
Fire Medical crews were dispatched on a possible structure fire at 1809 W. 25th Street at 2:26 a.m.. A caller reported something on fire in the stairwell of the building. Police responded to the area of the call and quickly established a perimeter in the area. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire before any significant damage was done. No injuries were reported. Radio traffic indicated that Police believed the fire to be related to the other suspicious fires in the same area. Investigators from both the Fire Medical Department and Police Department remained on that scene until approximately 4 a.m.. At 3:44 a.m., Police were dispatched on a report of a possible prowler in the 2400 block of Ousdahl Road. Thinking this might possibly be related to the suspicious fires, Police quickly responded to the area. It did not sound as though Police were able to locate anyone suspicious in that area.
Police were called to an address in the 1800 block of Almira Avenue for a reported domestic disturbance just after 4:30. Officers eventually arrested two people, a man and a woman, involved in the incident. Both now face a charges of Criminal Damage to Property. The female also faces a charge of Domestic Battery. No injuries were reported.
At 7:20, a Kansas Turnpike Authority Trooper requested a Medic unit respond on an injury accident in the roundabout at the west gate entrance to the turnpike. This is the toll booth on McDonald Drive. Medics reported one vehicle involved with minor damage and treated one person for some minor injuries. No one was transported by Medics from the scene.

December 4th Early Morning Law Enforcement and Fire Medical wrap up
Lawrence Police were involved in a brief foot chase in the 900 block of Ohio just after 3:45 a.m.. It was unclear why the officer was attempting to contact the subject but, the man ran from officers. He was captured and arrested a short distance away. He now faces an Interference with the Duties of an Officer charge.
At 5:39 a.m., Douglas County Deputies and Fire Medical crews were called to the South Lawrence Trafficway, just south of Clinton Parkway for a reported injury accident. The caller reported that two vehicles were involved and one had rolled after they collided head-on. Deputies arrived to report a full size Chevrolet pickup truck rolled onto its roof with the driver trapped inside the cab. That driver's injuries were said to be serious. A LifeStar Helicopter was called to the scene and eventaully transported the man to Stormont-Vail in Topeka. The other driver was said to have some minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene. Both lanes of K-10 were closed for just over an hour as crews worked the scene. Those lanes were reopened at 6:45 and the accident was completely cleared by 7:45. November 3rd Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire Medical wrap up
Lawrence Police on five disturbances this morning. One of those, in the 900 block of Massachusetts Street at 2:02, reportedly involved two subjects with baseball bats. Five police officers responded to the area and did not report locating anyone fighting, arguing, or carrying baseball bats.
At 2:32, Police were called to a domestic disturbance in the 3100 block of Ousdahl Road. One person was arrested. That person now faces charges of Domestic Battery and Criminal Damage to Property. No injuries were reported.
At 2:33, Police and Fire Medical crews were to a different apartment in the 3100 block of Ousdahl Road after a subject reportedly fell from a third level balcony to the ground. Medics reported the man's injuries to be critical and requested dispatchers order a LifeStar helicopter be ordered. LifeStar responded and landed in the Home Depot parking lot, 1900 block of W 31st Street. The man, said to be in his early 20's, was transported to the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. Initial reports indicated that the fall was accidental in nature, and occurred after the man had been consuming alcohol.
Shortly after 3 a.m., Police received information on a theft of wheels from a vehicle which was parked in the 1300 block of Tennessee Street. The vehicle's owner reported that he believed he knew who was responsible for the theft. No word whether or not his theory was correct or if the property has been recovered this morning.

October 7th Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up
Shortly before 2:30, Douglas County Deputies and Fire Medical crews were dispatched to the 2000 block of E 1400 Road, about one half of a mile north of Midland Junction on a report of an accident. The caller was a passerby who only reported a vehicle off of the roadway into a culvert. Deputies arrived to find a vehicle with one occupant pinned inside. Medics arrived and requested a LifeStar helicopter respond to the scene. After about 30 minutes of work, the driver was extricated. Following the extrication the driver was said to have gone into cardiac arrest. The injured driver was transported by medics to Lawrence Memorial Hospital at 3:38, with the assistance of LifeStar's medics on board the ambulance. As of this report there are no updates available on the drivers status. The accident remains under investigation and no other details have been released. Firefighters responded on a dumpster fire in the 2500 block of Redbud Lane at 2:59. Police reported that the Fire Department was investigating the fire as an arson. No suspect information was available.

Kansas Highway Patrol Troopers recorded a DWI related arrest on westbound Interstate 70 near milepost 200.

September 26th Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up
Lawrence Police conducted four vehicle stops this morning. One of those resulting in an OUI related arrest.
Officers also responded on two reported burglaries. The first was reported in the 1700 block of Mississippi Street at 5:36, and the second at 5:42 in the 1700 block of Ohio Street. The Mississippi Street incident was initially reported as an auto burglary. Very limited information was available related to either incident.
Police handled one domestic disturbance in the 2500 block of Redbud Lane at 6 a.m.. No injuries or arrests were reported.
At 6:50 a.m. a Kansas Turnpike Authority Trooper reported an accident near the south toll plaza for Interstate 70 and K-10. That trooper initially reported three people with minor injuries. Two medic units were dispatched to the scene from Lawrence. Medics arrived and requested Lawrence Fire to respond with their Rescue rig for an extrication of one subject. Medics gave a triage with one critical, one serious, and one minor injury. A LifeStar Helicopter was dispatched and landed near the toll plaza, temporarily blocking traffic on K-10. The person with critical injuries was transported, by LifeStar, to Stormont Vail in Topeka. The person with serious injuries was transported by Lawrence Medics to KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. August 31st Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up
KUPD reported making a OUI related arrest shortly after 2 a.m., near the intersection of 23rd and Ousdahl Road.
Officers in Lawrence were called to the intersection of 11th and Tennessee Street at 3:43 this morning for a report of two male subjects who were seen throwing empty kegs at passing vehicles, damaging one of the vehicles. Police located the two men quickly, both were arrested and face charges of Disorderly Conduct and Criminal Damage to Property.
At 6:55 a.m., Emergency crews from Eudora and Lawrence were dispatched on a single vehicle accident at the intersection of N 1000 Road and E 2000 Road, southwest of Eudora. A Police Officer was the first to arrive on scene and report the vehicle had rolled onto it's top, pinning the driver's arm under the vehicle. That officer also reported the driver to be in critical condition. LDCFM rescue crews worked for about 15 minutes to free the driver from the crashed vehicle. A LifeStar helicopter was dispatched and responded to the scene however, after landing the helicopter was disregarded. The injured person was transported by a LDCFM Medic unit to Overland Park Regional Medical Center. No other information regarding the driver or the accident was immediately available. I contacted my reporting partners at the Lawrence Journal-World to inform them of this story, that report can be found here.
At 7:50 a.m., Lawrence Police were called to the 1000 block of N 3rd Street to take a report on a non-injury hit and run accident. The victim was able to give police a vehicle description and license plate number. As of this report, it did not sound like officers have located the suspect vehicle.
