June 30th Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

Lawrence Police conducted 11 vehicles stops this morning, one OUI related arrest. KUPD also conducted several vehicle vehicle stops with one resulting in an OUI arrest.

Police also responded on a report of a domestic disturbance in the 1400 block of Apple Lane. One caller reported a female was hit and possibly had broken her jaw. LDCFM staged nearby until Police could secure the scene. Police arrived on scene and reported that two males were reported to have ran from the scene. Officers established a perimeter and were able to locate one male, who was only believed to be a witness, in the 1200 block of Jana Drive. That male was not reportedly "stepped into the domestic" to defend the female who was hit, when that man learned someone had called Police he ran. He has been booked into the County Jail on a charge Obstruction of the legal process. The male who allegedly struck the female remains at large as of last check. It sounded as though Police know who they are looking for. The female was not transported from the scene by Medics.

None of this morning's activity was reported to have resulted in any serious injuries.

June 29th Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

Shortly after 3:15 a.m., Lawrence Police were called to investigate "several auto burglaries." Officers arrived and reported spotting a possible suspect on foot in the area. Several more officers responded to the area and within an hour a juvenile male was running from those officers. That subject was quickly apprehended and transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.

Officers responded on a total of seven burglaries this morning, four of those are believed to be related to the juvenile that officers arrested.

Police also responded on two criminal damage complaints and three disturbances.

None of this morning's activity was reported to have resulted in any serious injuries.

The Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect until 8 p.m., Friday. More on this Warning can be found here from the National Weather Service office in Topeka.

June 27th Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

Lawrence Police conducted right around 10 vehicle stops this morning, none of those resulted in any arrests. One of this morning's pedestrian checks lead to an arrest for an out of state warrant. That wanted person was booked into the Douglas County Jail to await extradition and is being held without bond.

Officers also investigated after spotting fireworks in the 400 block of N 4th Street.

LDCFM and LPD responded on two medical emergencies.

None of this morning's activity was reported to have resulted in any serious injuries.

The National Weather Service Office in Topeka has issued an Extreme Heat Warning which will go into effect today at noon and will remain in place until 8 p.m., Friday. More on this Warning can be found here from the National Weather Service.

June 26th Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

Everything kept pretty quiet this morning. Police in Lawrence responded on three disturbances, no serious injuries or arrests were reported.

LPD also caught up with three men, who it sounded like, had been involved in a burglary earlier in the morning in Lawrence. The three were arrested in Eudora and all face numerous charges ranging from Aggravated Burglary to Theft.

None of this morning's activity was reported to have involved any serious injuries.

June 25th Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

Lawrence Police conducted seven vehicle stops this morning, one resulting in an OUI related arrest.

Douglas County Deputies responded on at least two non-injury accidents, both were reported to be car versus deer accidents. Earlier this morning, Lawrence Police investigated a non-injury accident in the 500 block of Indiana at 3 a.m..

Officers also responded on at least three medical emergencies with Fire/Medical.

The National Weather Service in Topeka has issued a Heat Advisory for Douglas County already this morning. That advisory will go into effect at 1pm and will remain in place until 8pm. Heat Indices are expected to be between 103 and 107. More information on this advisory can be found here from the National Weather Service office in Topeka.

June 24th Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

Lawrence Police conducted nearly 10 vehicle stops this morning, two resulting in OUI related arrests. KUPD also reported making an OUI related arrest.

Police also investigated a non-injury accident in the 500 block of Gateway Drive just after 2:20 a.m..

More than five officers responded on a report of a battery in the 900 block of Iowa street shortly after 2:30 a.m.. No serious injuries were reported in the incident.

Officers responded on a domestic disturbance at 3:32 a.m.. Again, at least five officers responded on the call. One person was taken into custody and faces Domestic Battery and Criminal Damage to Property charges this morning.

Lawrence Police responded on a total of seven disturbances between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m.. None of these incidents were reported to have involved any serious injuries.

June 23rd Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

Lawrence Police conducted at least seven vehicle stops this morning, one resulting in a OUI related arrest. The Sheriff's Office also conducted a couple vehicle stops with one resulting in a OUI related arrest.

Around 2:20 a.m., Lawrence Police were called to check on a report of gunshots heard in the 2500 block of Cedarwood Avenue. One caller reported hearing what she believed to be two gunshots. Officers checked the area and were not able to locate anything suspicious.

At 2:46 a.m., Police were called to investigate the sound of a possible explosion in the 600 block of N 2nd Street. Two officers checked the area and did not report locating any damage or signs of an explosion.

Officers also recorded two arrests in the 500 block of Colorado after responding on a report of a battery. Both of the arrested people had outstanding warrants for their arrests. One subject had three narcotic related warrants and the other subject had a Failure to Appear in Municipal Court warrant.

None of this morning's activity was reported to have resulted in any serious injuries.

June 22nd Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

Lawrence Police conducted at least nine vehicle stops this morning. One of those stops resulted in an arrest for an OUI related offense. Another of the stops occurred after a brief vehicle pursuit ended in the 3100 block of Ousdahl Road. At 2:21, an officer reported a vehicle driving recklessly, after a brief pursuit the vehicle stopped. The driver of that vehicle was taken into custody and faces charges of Careless Driving, Attempt to Elude and Interference with the Duties of an Officer.

Shortly before 3:45 a.m., Douglas County Deputies were called to investigate a non-injury accident in the 1300 block of Highway, just west of Baldwin City. Deputies reported a pickup truck had crashed into a ditch and came to rest on top of a guard rail. The driver of the pickup truck was eventually arrested and faces a DWI charge.

It was unclear how the incident was related to the above crash but, Deputies requested an ambulance for a pregnant female who was possibly going into labor at the same scene. Medics along with Baldwin City Fire responded to the scene. Medics transported the woman, about two weeks shy of her due date, to LMH.

Back in Lawrence, Police were called out twice to the same intersection after construction cones were moved into lanes of traffic.

Officers were involved in a foot pursuit just after 7 a.m.. The Officer called out the chase at 7:05 with a black male suspect running northbound along Ousdahl Road from 24th Street. Officers were able to catch up with the male about two minutes later in the 1600 block of W 22nd Terrace. It sounded as though the man had numerous warrants for his arrest. As of this report he has not been booked into the County Jail.

Police also responded on a couple disturbances and cited numerous parking violations in Lawrence. None of this morning's activity was reported to have resulted in any serious injuries.
