July 15th Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up
Lawrence Police conducted a vehicle stop near the intersection of Valley Lane and University Drive just before 2 a.m.. The driver was suspected to be OUI. While attempting to administer field sobriety tests, the male driver chose to become uncooperative. The officer called for assistance, within about a minute, a total of eight officers were on the scene. The driver was eventually confirmed to be intoxicated and was arrested. He faces charges of OUI 2nd offense, Interference with the Duties of an Officer and Driving While Suspended/Revoked. No injuries were reported.
At just about the same time that all of that was unfolding in Lawrence, Douglas County Deputies were on another vehicle stop near mile marker 397 on US Highway 24/40. Again the driver was arrested for DWI.
Officers responded on a disturbance in the 1000 block of Massachusetts Street at 2:11 a.m.. At least four officers were on the scene.
Lawrence Police investigated a non-injury accident in the 1100 block of Tennessee Street, just after 2:20 a.m.. A vehicle was reported to have struck a traffic signal pole and then left the scene in an unknown direction. As of this report, it is not believed that Police have caught up with the driver or the vehicle involved.
At 2:24 a.m., another disturbance was reported in the 800 block of Massachusetts Street and again an officer called for assistance. At least five officers responded to the scene to assist. One person was eventually taken into custody on charges of Domestic Battery.
2:35 a.m., Officers responded on a report of stolen cigarettes from a business in the 900 block of Iowa Street. It did not sound like Police knew who they were looking for, other than the description given by an employee. No arrests have been reported currently.
Police in Lawrence ended up conducting a total of five vehicle stops, responded on 11 disturbances, and four noise complaints. One of the disturbances was reported to have involved a baseball bat.
None of this morning's activity was reported to have involved any serious injuries.

June 24th Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up
Lawrence Police conducted nearly 10 vehicle stops this morning, two resulting in OUI related arrests. KUPD also reported making an OUI related arrest.
Police also investigated a non-injury accident in the 500 block of Gateway Drive just after 2:20 a.m..
More than five officers responded on a report of a battery in the 900 block of Iowa street shortly after 2:30 a.m.. No serious injuries were reported in the incident.
Officers responded on a domestic disturbance at 3:32 a.m.. Again, at least five officers responded on the call. One person was taken into custody and faces Domestic Battery and Criminal Damage to Property charges this morning.
Lawrence Police responded on a total of seven disturbances between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m.. None of these incidents were reported to have involved any serious injuries.
