Man fatally stabbed in Lawrence on Christmas morning

Lawrence Police are investigating after a man was fatally stabbed during a domestic disturbance at The Grove apartments early Christmas morning.

Officers and Medics were called to an apartment at 4301 W. 24th Place shortly after 3:30 a.m.. The apartment complex is just east of Inverness Drive on W. 24th Place.

Police found the male victim to have at least one stab wound to the left chest and a possible puncture wound to the back.

On first arrival, medics reported him to be in critical condition. The man went into cardiac arrest at 3:47 a.m. and was not able to be revived. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police detained a woman at the scene and transported her to the Law Enforcement Center for questioning. That woman, 27-year-old, Marci Deshayna Cully was arrested and booked into the Douglas County Jail just before 9:30 a.m.. Cully is also a Lawrence resident but did not live at The Grove, according to county booking logs.

The victim’s name has not been released.
