Service restored following morning power outage

At 3:49, Lawrence Police were called to investigate a non-injury accident involving a vehicle crashed into a utility pole at the intersection of 23rd Street and Massachusetts Street.

As of 5:30, Westar’s website showed 1,270 customers were without power. Original outage number at 4:30 was 1,265.

Outage numbers dropped to 13 at 5:45 a.m. and showed to be fully restored at 6:05.

Police responded on at least two burglary alarms in the area, believed related to the outage.

Officer also investigated what was reported as an aggravated burglary in the 2200 block of Harper Street. A resident believes someone possibly entered the residence through a backdoor, then turned around and exited. Police are investigating whether or not the resident actually saw someone or if this could also be related to the power outage.
