November 29th Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire Medical wrap up

Lawrence firefighters were called to the Islamic Center of Lawrence, 1917 Naismith Drive, at 5:44 a.m.. A caller reported wiring on the back of the building was burning and her roommate was attempting to extinguish the fire. Firefighters reported the fire was out upon arrival and requested a Fire Investigator to respond to the scene. As of 7:30 this morning, Police remained at that scene.

At 5:50 a.m., firefighters from three area townships were called to a residence at 1298 E. 1600 Road, just outside of Lawrence in Wakarusa Township. The caller reported a chimney fire. First responders from Wakarusa Township were able to extinguish the fire before it could spread to the rest of the house. No injuries were reported.

None of this morning’s activity was reported to have involved any serious injuries.
