Around 1:40 a.m., Lawrence Police along with LDCFM responded on an injury accident at the intersection of W 4th Street and McDonald Drive. I was just beginning to monitor as incident command was being told that all of the area medical helicopters were unable to respond to transport the patient due to “deteriorating weather conditions at altitude.” One person was reported to have suffered serious injuries. That person was transported by LDCFM to Stormont Vail in Topeka. Law Enforcement remained in the area investigating until after 5 a.m., this morning. The fire department was requested to return to the scene for cleanup just after 5:15 a.m..

At 3:10 a.m., Lawrence Police were called to a business in the 1100 block of Massachusetts Street on a report of a strong armed robbery. An unknown suspect reportedly stole several items from the victim. The stolen items seemed to be the contents of a purse or wallet. Witnesses were only able to provide Police with a pretty vague suspect description. As of this report, no arrests have been reported.

The rest of this early morning was pretty quiet. Other than the activity listed above, no serious injuries were reported.
