March 17th Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

Shortly after 1:30 a.m., Lawrence Police received reports of a shooting in the 800 block of W 24th Street. Officers arrived and learned that the victim had been transported by a private vehicle to Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Police radio traffic indicated that they located at least one casing at the scene. A bystander reportedly followed a believed suspect vehicle. Officers were able to catch up with and stop that vehicle. Two people were detained at the vehicle stop and were being questioned. As of 7 a.m., no arrests have been recorded in the incident. After 2 a.m., Police in Lawrence responded on two noise complaints, and a disturbance.

Officers also received information on a reported indecent exposure. The incident was reported around 2:40 a.m. in the 400 block of W 23rd Street. A caller reported that a male had exposed himself to her. Three officers checked the area, there has not been any word of anyone being located as a suspect in the incident.

Police received information on a non-injury accident. One of the involved drivers walked in a report to a Police station. It was unclear, from scanner traffic, where the accident actually occurred.

A Douglas County Deputy reported making a DUI related arrest around 4:15 a.m., near the intersection of 6th and Maine.

Other than the shooting reported above, no serious injuries or incidents involving the use of any weapons were reported early this morning.
