February 3rd Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

Lawrence Police made a vehicle stop shortly after 2 a.m., on a vehicle that was seen driving recklessly. After a field sobriety test, that driver was arrested for DUI and a few other charges.

Officers also responded on a few burglary alarms, all that I heard ended up being false alarms.

Just after 5 a.m, a Lawrence Police officer attempted to talk to a male subject in the 1800 of Miller Drive. That man chose to run from officers. Police gave chase on foot and the man was taken into custody about two minutes later in the 1800 block of Maple Lane. No other information was available regarding why the man ran.

This mornings weather also is reported to have been a contributing factor in several non injury accidents in the area.

Leavenworth County Fire and EMS also responded on a minor injury accident in the westbound lanes of the Turnpike near milemarker 212, in Reno Township. Two tractor trailers and a pickup truck were involved. Reports indicated that the pickup rear ended the tractor trailers. The driver of the pickup was not believed to have been wearing a seat belt and was injured when he was hit with the airbag. He was transported to LMH with minor injuries.

Just after 7 a.m., a Douglas County Deputy reported an injury accident in the eastbound lanes of K-10 just west of Church. It sounded as though a Deputy was involved and injured in the accident. The injured person was said to have serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to a Kansas City area trauma center.
