August 3rd Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

A Lawrence Police Officer who had responded on a report of “noisy subjects” in the 1000 block of Massachusetts Street found himself witnessing a man urinating in public. The officer contacted the man and after some further checking found that the man was wanted for misdemeanor failure to appear in municipal court. The man was taken into custody for both offenses and has been booked into the Douglas County Jail.

Officers conducted numerous building checks and at least four vehicle stops throughout town.

The Kansas Highway Patrol and Douglas County Sheriff’s Office each reported making a DWI related arrest as well. KHP’s arrest was in the 800 block of N. Iowa, while the Sheriff’s Office arrest was on K-10 near mile marker 13.

At 6:10 a Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputy reported a possible water main break just to the west of 19th and Haskell. The deputy reported that it was not causing any issue with traffic and he did not think that it would until crews arrived to check and repair the break.

None of this morning’s activity was reported to have resulted in any serious injuries.
