Lawrence Police responded on a few disturbances this morning, one reportedly involving a male with a “metal rod.” No serious injuries were reported.

Officers also checked on a report of a possible burglary in the area of 14th and Massachusetts Street. The caller reported a backdoor of the house was found open. The residents did not report seeing anyone but, they did say they believed they heard footsteps in the house. There was no word on whether or not that had actually been someone in the house or if the door had been blown open by the wind during the storm.

Lawrence Fire responded to an address in the 600 block of Gateway court for a sparking transformer shortly before 5 a.m.. Firefighters requested Westar respond to the scene to check for hazards.

Around 5 a.m., power outages began piling up. The highest report was of 146 outages at 6 a.m.. As of this report, Westar’s website shows 100 customers without electricity.

None of this morning’s activity was reported to have involved any serious injuries.
