A busy couple of hours this morning for Law Enforcement in Douglas County.

At 2:04 a.m., Lawrence Police received a report of a possible stabbing, related to a domestic disturbance in the 1700 block of W 24th Street. Officers arrived and quickly determined that no one had been stabbed. At least 10 officers were involved on the call at one point. One person was arrested at the scene on Battery charges. Several others reportedly fled from the scene in a vehicle, prior to Police arriving. Law Enforcement caught up with those individuals a short time later on eastbound K-10 near mile marker 13. All three were taken into custody and later booked into the Douglas County Jail. One of them faces a charge of Domestic Battery, while the other two face a single count each of Battery.

Just as Police were getting a handle on the disturbance call, a call of an injury accident was dispatched in the 700 block of Locust Street at 2:24 a.m.. The caller reported that a car had struck a pedestrian. Police, along with Fire/Medical responded to the scene. Officers arrived at the scene to learn that the person who had been struck by the vehicle had left the scene and entered a nearby residence. Officers made contact with people at that residence, who initially said to have been uncooperative. Medics did not report transporting anyone away from that scene.

At 2:44 a.m., Police were called to investigate a possible attempted burglary at an address in the 100 block of Hanover Place. The caller reported that, approximately 20 minutes before calling Police, an unknown subject attempted to “break down the door.” The unknown subject was unsuccessful in their attempt but, did cause damage to the door. There was no description of the suspect available.

Seconds after the burglary call was dispatched, two officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Ohio Street on reports of fireworks in the area. Officers did not report locating any fireworks in the area.

At 2:46 a.m., Police were dispatched to the 900 block of Massachusetts Street for a non-injury hit and run accident. The victim reported an orange truck fled southbound after the accident. No other information was immediately available.

For the most part, activity calmed down after that. Police continued investigating several of the earlier mentioned incidents as well as responding on a few noise complaints and disturbances.

Lawrence Police, KUPD, and Kansas Highway Patrol all recorded one arrest each on DUI, OUI, DWI related charges.

None of this morning’s activity was reported to have involved any serious injuries.
