April 6th Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

About 1:45 a.m., an injury accident was dispatched in southern Jefferson County along U.S. 24 Highway near Williamstown. Crews arrived on scene to find two people with critical injuries after being ejected from a rolled vehicle. LifeStar responded from Lawrence to transport one of the injured to KUMC in Kansas City, KS. The second was transported to Stormont-Vail in Topeka. As of this report U.S. 24 Highway remains closed from U.S. 59 Highway near Williamstown to Lecompton Road near Perry. At last check, the Kansas Highway Patrol was still on scene investigating and KDOT was blocking all lanes of U.S. 24 Highway. More on this accident can be found here from Operation 100 News.

Back in Douglas County, things were fairly quiet. Police in Lawrence responded on more than five auto burglaries in the 300-500 blocks of Colorado and California. Numerous officers responded and checked the area. As of this report, no arrests have been recorded.

Officers also responded on two disturbances and conducted a few vehicle stops.

None of this morning’s activity in Douglas County was said to have involved the use of any weapons or resulted in any serious injuries.
