Lawrence Police responded on several disturbances this morning. One was said to have been reported by a cab driver who was a witness to a battery in the 900 block of Massachusetts Street, just after 1:20 a.m.. Police reported that one person was seriously injured. Medics responded and transported the victim to LMH. That same person was later transported, by LifeStar helicopter, to the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. There was little information on suspects and, as of this report, no arrests have been recorded.

Just before 2 a.m., Police responded on another disturbance, reported to have been domestic in nature. No serious injuries were reported and one person was taken into custody for domestic battery.

Officers received information on a burglary in the 1900 block of W 3rd Street just before 2:40 a.m..

A second domestic disturbance was reported minutes after 5 a.m.. Again, no serious injuries were reported and no arrests were recorded.

At 5:31 a.m., Lawrence Police and Fire/Medical were called to a mobile home in the 1900 block of W 31st Street. Emergency dispatchers reported that they received multiple 911 calls reporting that the trailer was fully involved with fire. LPD arrived on scene about a minute after being dispatched and confirmed that the trailer was heavily involved with fire showing. Fire/Medical arrived and reported the trailer to be about 50% involved with fire visible. Firefighters had the fire knocked down and put under control just before 6 a.m.. One of the people who called 911 reportedly “kicked in” a window on the trailer. Radio traffic also indicated that a known resident of the trailer was not home, as he/she was already in the custody of the Douglas County Jail. That person was reportedly questioned regarding any other possibly occupants of the trailer, dispatchers reported the person was “uncooperative” with the question. Unconfirmed radio traffic also indicated that there is a previous history with this address being the site of methamphetamine activity.
