April 20th Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

Another morning with no major accidents or incidents to report in Douglas County.

Lawrence Police responded on two disturbances and one noise complaint. No serious injuries or no arrests were reported. Officers also received information on a burglary in the 2000 block of Naismith Drive just after 4 a.m..

This morning, the Kansas Department of Corrections has confirmed that three of the four men who escaped from the Ottawa County Detention Center have been apprehended. Santos Carrera Morales, a convicted murderer, was apprehended in Russell, Kansas late Thursday night. More on this apprehension can be found here from Operation 100 News. Also on the loose is 59-year-old, convicted sex offender, Gary Leslie Furthmyer. Furthmyer escaped from the Lansing Correctional Facility around 3 a.m. Wednesday. More on Gary Leslie Furthmyer’s escape can be found here from Operation 100 News.
