September 15th Overnight Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

A little bit more activity for Lawrence Police last night.

Police were also called to several noise complaints and conducted a number of vehicle stops throughout town. An officer on routine patrols investigated fireworks in the area of the 1200 block of Tennessee Street at about 11:20 p.m.

Just about 11:50 p.m. Police were called to the 1000 block of Delaware Street on reports of an armed disturbance. Several subjects were seen fighting and it was believed that at least one of them was armed. Police arrived quickly and one man ran on foot from officers. One officer was able to give chase and kept the subject in sight into the 1000 block of New York, where the officer lost sight of the man. Police set up a perimeter to search the area. It was unclear if they were able to catch up with him or not.

One of the many vehicle stops that officers conducted last night resulted in a DUI arrest just before 2 a.m. in the 2600 block of Ridge Court.

Just before 3 a.m. Police were called to the 1100 block of W 5th Street after a caller reported two male subjects who were attempting to “knock down” street signs in the area. The caller’s husband had gone outside to “chase them off” and the caller believed that her husband was battered by the subjects after he confronted them. The husband followed the men into the 500 block of Missouri, where he lost sight of them. Several officers responded to that area. It was unclear if those subjects were located.

LPD also worked a non injury accident in the 100 block of E 13th Street around 4:30 a.m.

In case you have not already heard, a prisoner escaped from the Lansing Correctional Facility yesterday and he remains on the loose this morning. More info.
