Saturday night started off busy for Lawrence Police.

LPD along with LDCFM responded on an injury accident involving a motorcycle in the 5000 block of Clinton Parkway at 10:50 p.m.. One person was transported by ambulance from that scene, injuries are not believed to have been life threatening in nature.

As officers were investigating the accident, several other officers were called to respond on two different disturbances. The first was reported to be a domestic situation on W 6th Street and the second more of a battery in the 1000 block of Massachusetts Street.

11:37 p.m., and LPD was called to respond on a disturbance reported to involve weapons in the 3600 block of E 25th Street. It was unclear exactly what the suspect was armed with, it did sound like one subject was taken into custody.

12:31 a.m., and officers are called to investigate reports of a shooting in the 800 block of W 24th Street. Witnesses reported that shots were fired from a gray Cadillac. Officers were able to locate and stop that vehicle in the 1800 block of W 23rd Street. Two men were inside and both were taken into custody. Witnesses were unable to tell Police if the men in the vehicle were shooting at someone, an object or firing randomly into the air. No injuries were reported. 2:05 a.m., and a LPD officer reports seeing multiple vehicles on fire in the tow lot in the 3700 block of Franklin Park Circle in southeast Lawrence. That officer calls for LDCFM to respond. One fire unit is initially dispatched on the call, more units are quickly added as the Officer on scene locates a total of six vehicles being on fire in the lot, with the fire nearing a structure. Fire crews arrived and were able to report the fire under control by 2:25 a.m..

Police also handled the usual noise complaints, disturbances and vehicle stops throughout the night. Several DUI arrests were also made, including one in Eudora.

Kansas City, Missouri Police continue to search and ask for the public’s assistance in locating a believed kidnapped 10-month-old girl from her. It is believed that the child was abducted from her bedroom, late Monday night or early Tuesday morning. More information, updates and photo’s of the child can be found here.
