A little bit more activity overnight. Nothing to out of the ordinary for Lawrence.
The night started off at 10:30 p.m. with a truck vs a concrete pillar off of the roadway. Police and Fire/Medical responded to westbound Clinton Parkway near the K-10 bypass. The driver advised Police that he had swerved to miss a deer, lost control, left the road and ended up striking a concrete pillar nearly head-on. Just after 10:40 p.m. Police and Fire/Medical were called to the 2200 block of Louisiana Street in Lawrence on reports of a car vs deer accident involving injuries to the vehicle’s driver. LPD arrived on scene quickly and confirmed that Fire/Medical was needed to respond for the driver who has sustained what were described as serious injuries. Shortly after midnight Police were called to the McDonalds on 6th Street. The caller was an employee who advised that there was a male subject trying to walk through the drive through and place an order. Employees repeatedly refused to take the subject’s order and he refused to leave. It sounded like the employees waited until another customer arrived before calling Police. The subject stood in-front of the menu board refusing to let the person in the car place their order. Police were called and the subject left the area prior to their arrival.
Lawrence Fire responded on a off of arcing power lines that had started a small fire on a utility pole. A fire engine arrived and reported that a branch had broken, falling on the power lines, which sparked a small fire on the tree branch. Fire crews stood by until Westar could arrive on the scene.
