June 22nd Overnight Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

All was pretty quiet overnight in Douglas County.

Lawrence Police were involved in a short foot chase with two subject that were reported to have been burglarizing vehicles just after midnight in the 3300 block of Iowa. One of the men was taken into custody rather quickly. The other subject seemed to think if he hid in the treeline for a few minutes that Police would forget about him and leave. Needless to say, that was not the case. Police surrounded the area and waited for the subject to wander back out into the open. His buddy spilled the bean to Police so they knew exactly who they were looking for. The second man was taken into custody around 12:30 a.m. It was not clear how many vehicles had been broken into before Police were able to arrive.

The rest of the night was really pretty quiet. One or two noise complaints, a complaint about a neighbor’s barking dog and a few minor disturbances. No serious injuries were reported with any of the overnight activity and nothing that I heard involved any weapons.
