July 26th Overnight Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

Another active night in Douglas County last night.

The night started off fairly early with a non injury accident in he 2200 block of Massachusetts Street just before 10:15 p.m. About 15 or so minutes later LDCFM was dispatched on a rollover accident on 24/40 Highway, directly south of Lawrence Municipal Airport. Units arrived and found one pickup truck on its side off the south side of the roadway. Minor extrication was needed to remove the driver from the truck. That driver’s injuries were considered serious but, non life threatening. Another non injury accident was reported in the 1300 block of Connecticut Street shortly before midnight.

Baldwin City Officers and Douglas County Deputies responded on several reports of prowlers outside of homes. One caller reported that she saw a subject pass by her window and shining a flashlight though the window. The subject reportedly ran after the caller spotted them. A separate caller advised that he had seen a subject who was “sneaking around” his home a few blocks away from the first call. The second caller advised emergency dispatchers that he had armed himself with a handgun. The caller became uncooperative with dispatchers when they tried to advise him that Police had arrived and would be checking around his home. Police checked the yard, from a distance, due to the man refusing to put away his handgun. Officers and Deputies were unable to locate anyone related to either of the reports.

Lawrence Police also responded on a report of a prowler in the 2900 block of west 23rd Terrace. Officers were unable to locate anyone on that property as well.

LPD was also sent to check the area of 14th and Kentucky after a caller reported hearing at least seven gunshots in the area. Officers responded and checked the area. They were unable to locate anyone in the area.
