July 21st Overnight Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

After almost a week of pretty quiet overnights, Lawrence Police had a busy night on their hands last night.

Just before 3:30 a.m. Lawrence Police responded to the Kwik Shop at 845 Mississippi Street after a reported armed robbery. The victim advised officers that a black male subject who was last seen wearing all black and had a white sweater covering his face. The man was armed with a black handgun according to the victim. The suspect was last seen running northbound on Mississippi Street. Police did conduct several car stops in the area during minutes following the incident. It did not sound as though any arrests had been made.

While investigating the armed robbery and searching for the suspect, LPD was bombarded with calls for service including; a prowler, several disturbances and a fireworks complaint. Police were stretched pretty thin for a time.
