July 18th Overnight Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

Another pretty quiet night in Douglas County. Lawrence Police responded on a number of noise complaints and small disturbances. LPD also responded on at least two fireworks complaints. One of which was called in to Police as sounds of gunshots. Police were in the area and advised that the sounds were in fact fireworks.

LDCFM had an active start to the night. Rescue crews removed a total of fifteen individuals, described as teenagers from the Kansas River around 10:30 last night. Initial call was for “about five” teenagers who had started in the Delaware river south of Lake Perry. Jefferson County crews were also involved in the search effort. For the full story and details, read the LJWorld Story on the incident.

Shortly before 1:30 a.m. this morning Lawrence Police were dealing with a subject who had become combative with Officers. The Officers that were out with the subject, at 23rd and Massachusetts, requested assistance from another Officer and the Sergeant. Those units responded and the subject was back to behaving himself.

Again, the activity blogged here is only a sampling of some of the things that Douglas County Law Enforcement and Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical respond on. To see a complete list of Lawrence Police activity, the department has that available on their website along with several easy to use maps that show approximate locations for Police activity.
