December 6th Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

Maybe it was the cold weather or maybe it was just another Tuesday morning but, things were very quiet this morning in Douglas County.

Just after 12:15 a.m., Police in Lawrence responded on a disturbance in the 900 block of west 24th Street. At least five officers responded and quickly had the situation under control. No weapons were involved and no injuries were reported.

LPD also conducted about five vehicle stops. I did not hear any reports of arrests being made.

Sadly, over the past few weeks there has been a spike in suicide attempts throughout my listening area. As this is one of the scanner calls that is never easy to hear. I urge anyone struggling with depression to talk to someone. Here is a message from Kansas City’s Fox 4, WDAF, on the loss of their friend, morning Meteorologist Don Harman and Don’s struggle with depression. LINK to story and video. As always, let’s remember to keep any comments appropriate.

The activity blogged here is only a sampling of some of the things that Douglas County Law Enforcement and Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical respond on.
