December 5th Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

Just before 2 a.m., Lawrence Police were called to investigate a hit and run, non injury accident in the 800 block of Louisiana Street. It sounded like the calling party witnessed his vehicle being struck, sounded as though the his vehicle was parked and unoccupied when it was struck. At least five officers responded to the area to check for a suspect vehicle.

Police in Lawrence also responded on two disturbances, and a burglary alarm.

Sadly, over the past few weeks there has been a spike in suicide attempts throughout my listening area. As this is one of the scanner calls that is never easy to hear. I urge anyone struggling with depression to talk to someone. Here is a message from Kansas City’s Fox 4, WDAF, on the loss of their friend, morning Meteorologist Don Harman and Don’s struggle with depression. LINK to story and video. As always, let’s remember to keep any comments appropriate.
