Police were kept busy early this morning with disturbances throughout Lawrence. Four disturbances were reported between midnight and 3 a.m..

Officers were called to the area south of 9th and Kentucky Streets after a report of the sound of an explosion. Police were not able to locate anything out of the ordinary in the area and only one call was received.

Lawrence Police also responded on several medical emergencies with LDCFM.

Just before 6:30 a.m., LDCFM and Police were called to the 2500 block of W 6th Street for a possible structure fire. The caller reported smoke from an apartment door, with alarms sounding and no one coming to the door. Firefighters arrived and found a burnt pizza in the oven. One person was evaluated on the scene by medics for possible smoke inhalation. That person was not transported from the scene. No other injuries were reported and the small fire was out and contained to the oven when crews arrived.
