December 12th Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

Lawrence Police responded on two noise complaints after 2 a.m. this morning.

Officers also responded to the 500 block of Eldridge Street to receive information on a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was left running, “warming up”, in a parking lot. When the owner came out, the vehicle was gone. As the owner did not witness the theft, there is no information available regarding a possible suspect(s) or which direction the vehicle left.

None of this mornings activity resulted in any serious injuries or involved the use of any weapons.

Sadly, over the past few weeks there has been a spike in suicide attempts throughout my listening area. As this is one of the scanner calls that is never easy to hear. I urge anyone struggling with depression to talk to someone. Here is a message from Kansas City’s Fox 4, WDAF, on the loss of their friend, morning Meteorologist Don Harman and Don’s struggle with depression. LINK to story and video. As always, let’s remember to keep any comments appropriate.

The activity blogged here is only a sampling of some of the things that Douglas County Law Enforcement and Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical respond on. To see a complete list of Lawrence Police activity, the department has that available on their website along with several easy to use maps that show approximate locations for Police activity.
