Injury Accident & Duplex Fire Overnight

A little more action for Lawrence Police overnight. Nothing over the top exciting or unusual.

Shortly after 11 p.m. Police responded to the 800 block of Emery Road on a very minor injury accident. The injured party refused an ambulance. Police still handled and investigated the accident as injury involved.

Right at 2 a.m. Lawrence Police and Fire crews were called to respond to a reported structure fire in the 1400 block of west 2nd Terrace. Police arrived on scene first and reported a small fire on the exterior of the single story duplex and a small pile of debris also on fire about a foot from the structure. Occupants from both sides of the duplex were safely out of the structure prior to the arrival of Police.

Fire crews arrived and quickly extinguished the visible fire on the exterior of the structure and the small debris fire. Crews entered the duplex and found smoke was slowly filling the interior. Further investigation led them to a small fire in the eaves which was extinguished. The Fire Department did remove some ceiling to confirm that the fire was completely out. Crews were reporting the fire was out at 2:45 a.m.

Two of the occupants were treated on the scene by medical crews and refused transport to the hospital. Fire crews did request the Red Cross to respond to assist the displaced residents. LJWorld Story

It was also brought to my attention overnight that there is a Facebook Group looking for the installation of crossover cables along K-10 Highway.

Other then that it was another routine overnight.
