MISSION STATEMENT
United Way of Douglas County: Addressing human service needs by mobilizing community resources and building partnerships.

Agency partnerships consist of 24 not-for-profits that address human service needs locally; some of these agencies are part of a national entity, such as Big Brothers Big Sisters. These agencies must be recognized as a 501c, complete a rigorous application to the United Way and submit a full audit in order to be selected by a review board allocating United Way funds.

The 24 agency partnerships are separated into three categories of service:

Building Successful Families, Children and Youth – United Way helps families become stronger and supports quality childcare, school readiness, and safe, enriching environments for children and youth.

Creating a Healthier Community – United Way provides access to quality healthcare services, support for persons with chronic illnesses and disaster preparedness programming. United Way encourages volunteerism and strengthens area non-profits to better serve the community.

Fostering Self Sufficiency – United Way supports efforts to create more self-sufficient adults and families, and helps seniors live independently as long as possible.

You, a family member, friend or a colleague may have utilized a United Way partner agency due to the varied amount of assistance they provide in Douglas County.
