As of 10:30 AM on Friday the snow is still falling hard in Northeast Kansas leaving slushy and slick roads for commuters as they try to go about their daily grind. So far the reports for snow are:

Clinton Lake: 3.0 inches
Downtown Lawrence: 3.5 inches
SE Jefferson County: 4.0 inches
Topeka: 2.5 inches

The image above is from about 11:00 AM showing the snowfall in Downtown Lawrence. It looks like we are on the back side of the snow band at this point with the more intense snow bands over Douglas County right now. You should expect another 1/2 to 1 inch of snow to fall before it tapers off for the early afternoon. Nominal accumulations are expected once the main band of snow passes on Friday with only flurries and light snow expected into Saturday.

Now we have to start looking to the next storm set to arrive late on Sunday night into Monday. Depending on which model you look at, this next storm looks much more impressive as far as snowfall amounts. Several inches of snow will be possible, although it is a little too early to give a good estimation of totals for that particular storm. Some models are putting the heaviest amounts in Southern Kansas while other models are pushing heavy bands of snow right over top of the Northeast Corner of Kansas. We will watch this storm and keep you updated as the latest data comes out.
