Weekend Outlook

Strong storms rocked portions of North central and Northeast Kansas Thursday and Friday. Several tornadoes were reported in North of Concordia, Kansas and near Beatrice, Nebraska Thursday night while several strong thunderstorms rolled through early Friday morning across the 6 NEWS viewing area.

While the threat of severe weather is done, we are not quite finished with the rain. A strong upper-level system is going to push cooler air out of Canada into the region leaving highs on Saturday into the mid to upper 60’s on Saturday.

We are looking at splash and dash showers to develop late on Saturday evening as our south wind returns, although at a much more reasonable rate (we are talking 5-15 mph vs. 40+ mph). The showers are likely to develop to our south and spread northward to bring us a chance of passing showers late in the day.

Sunday brings us warmer temperatures and an even lower chance of showers for the late afternoon. Temps are likely to top out in the low 70’s as our south wind continues. Our next significant chance of storms rolls in by midweek as highs top out near 80°.
