When will we get our first snow?

The record for the earliest snowfall in Topeka was set on October 9, 1970. Up to this point, we haven’t received our first snow, so we won’t break any records. (There have been reports of a few snowflakes mixing in with rain for areas around Junction City, however nothing confirmed or notable has occurred yet this season.)

Here are the dates for the first snowfall in Topeka over the past five years:

November 29, 2008

November 21, 2007

December 31, 2006

November 15, 2005

November 23, 2004

Knowing the record and trend over the past five years, I thought it would be interesting for people to guess when they think we will see snowfall the first time this year. Pick your date and post it in the comments below, or on our 49 Storm Team Weather Facebook Page. Once we receive our first snow, we’ll check back to see who was the closest.
