Two arrests in aggravated robbery

Two people are now in custody for an aggravated robbery that occurred early Tuesday in the 3900 block of Harvard Road.Tony Wayne Ashcraft, 30, rural Lawrence, was arrested Tuesday afternoon by Lawrence Police and Douglas County Sheriff’s officers. He was found at a rural residence, but the exact address wasn’t released. Ashcraft was booked into jail on suspicion of aggravated robbery, conspiracy and criminal use of a financial card. Police also recovered some money and other items that were taken.Earlier Tuesday police arrested Joseph Dale New, 24, Lawrence, for aggravated robbery and a Leavenworth County warrant.Ashcraft and New were still being held pending formal charges Wednesday afternoon. No bonds had been set.Police were called shortly after 3 a.m. Tuesday by a man who said he had been beaten and robbed of his wallet in the 3900 block of Harvard Road. A woman was with the two men who attacked him, according to a police report. A woman was found with Ashcraft but she wasn’t arrested.
