Liquor store burglarized overnight

A burglar used a concrete rabbit to smash the door of a liquor store overnight in central Lawrence and made off with an undetermined amount of alcohol.The burglary at Neighborhood Liquors, 1906 Mass. – formerly known as Mom & Pops – was reported by a passerby about 8:25 a.m. this morning. The thief apparently used a wastebasket inside the store to cart off an unknown amount of liquor, including bottles of premium tequila, owner Mike Myers said.An initial report listed the items stolen as worth $180, but Myers said it could be more than that. There have been at least two other forced-entry burglaries at liquor stores reported this year in Lawrence:¢ In January, police released a surveillance photo of a man suspected of breaking into Spirit Liquor, 600 Lawrence Ave. He was later identified, arrested and sentenced to probation.¢ On Aug. 20, someone broke into Harper Corner Liquor around 5:20 a.m. and stole five bottles of E & J Brandy.-contributed by Eric Weslander.
