Mitch Lightfoot talks about 101-year-old KU fan, favorite KU run, hot start to the season

In the wake of a 96-58 victory over Toledo, Mitch Lightfoot wasn’t quite ready to crown the Jayhawks’ 32-3 spurt in the first half the best run his team has been on.

“My favorite run was against West Virginia, down however much we were with two-and-a-half minutes left,” Lightfoot said. “That wasn’t the biggest run, but probably the one that meant the most to the guys on our team.”

Lightfoot answered questions about a variety of topics, including why he thinks KU has been so dominant to start the year.

For that, he turned to leadership of players like Devonte’ Graham, who led the Jayhawks with 35 points and five assists in the win.

“Also, our younger guys, we’re buying in,” Lightfoot said. “We’re doing what (the veterans) want us to and helping coach mold this team the way he wants it.”
