New Kansas assistant coach Michael Slater has been impressed with the players on KU’s defensive line since joining the program in the offseason.

“Their attitudes and their work ethic doesn’t reflect someone who was 0 and 12 last year,” Slater says, “so that was the biggest surprise for me when I got here.”

Slater, who joins second-year head coach David Beaty’s staff after working previously at Rice, says that approach from KU’s defensive linemen comes from a program with high morale.

From a production standpoint this spring, Slater points to senior defensive end Anthony Olobia, sophomore end Dorance Armstrong Jr., junior tackle Jacky Dezir, sophomore tackle Daniel Wise and sophomore tackle D.J. Williams as players who have impressed him.
