What shocked you with the State of the Union address?

What shocked you the most about the State of the Union speech this week?

President Obama made some interesting remarks during the speech. He said, point blank, that he is going to repeal the 'don't ask, don't tell' policy regarding gays and homosexuals in the military. When President Clinton tried to lift the ban, initially; there was practically a revolt in the military. This policy was the best he get. Will it cause a furor again?

How about his remarks regarding the Supreme Court, and the decision he disagrees with unleashing restrictions on corporate contributions to political campaigns. Among the hundreds of people in the House chamber, it only took five of them to change decades of campaign contribution law.

Was it his defense of his health care plan? Should he have defended it more, or do you think he is simply rolling over and letting it die?

There are many other issues in the speech that could be added to this list. What do you think was the most shocking?

Sorry, can't say I found anything shocking.
I was focused on the bits about education; increase in Pell Grants, I will not have to spend more than 10% of my paycheck to repay the loan, and after twenty years, ten if I go into community service, my debt will be forgiven.
Cheers from the students who live among you.

Well, there you go again. Making unfounded remarks. He said foreign monies could support political parties. That is not what the supreme court is going to allow no matter how much ACORN wants Saudi and China money.

    Biden's Purple tie.

I thought Pelosi and Biden acted like they were at a school assembly.

What shocks me is all the haters who post on the LJW comments section. Usually about ten times per article. Maybe we could limit our posts to two or three per? Is that asking too much? By then we all know your position, so let me read the other posts, please?

I thought Biden looked like he needs more fiber in his diet.

An amazing pack of lies. No lobbyists in his adminstration? A second "jobs" stimulus to throw good money after bad because the first was so successful? The expense "reduction" which isn't really a reduction at all and won't start until 2011?? Now he's focusing on nuclear after closing Yucca Mountain nuclear storage that has already cost billions of taxpayer dollars? And my favorite was the jobs theme of the SOTU. That was a huge hypocrasy and lie in itself since health care reform has been his clear focus, not jobs. It goes on & on.........

And no mention of his nitwit plans to close Gitmo, trying KSM in a civilian court, letting the underwear bomber lawyer up with Miranda rights, the climate change disaster at Copenhagen (or the Olympic disaster at Copenhagen). This is change you can't even believe. Obama is a fool and a liar.

jerkreaction is an accurate name. Guantanamo serves no real beneficial purpose. On the contrary, it damages our image around the world. The Constitution and our justice system are at the core of what it means to be America. That so many are so readily willing to abandon our core values in the name of "security" is a black mark against your patriotism. The United States is not simply a place, it is a place founded on essential principles. Denying a major preponderance of scientific evidence and opinion on the climate reveals a certain pride of ignorance. There are liars and fools speaking on these issues, but none are named Obama.
