Venus Transit in Progress

Well, I have a telescope and the last transit of Venus across the face of the sun for over a hundred years is happening right now.

I've set up a somewhat crude rig to project the Sun's image on some white posterboard.

As Lawrence suggested in the comments, DO NO LOOK DIRECTLY AT THE SUN! It is very unlikely that you could see it anyway.

Sun will set soon. Transit will go on without us.

BTW: And here is the last IPS post. No one has identified the subject.

The bank of clouds on the western horizon made the sun too bright to get direct photo shots with my little Canon, but the projection images even for the setting sun were pretty darn cool.

Was able to view it last night using two sets of welding masks. Pretty cool deal.

Almost certainly, you could not see it if you did.

So please don't.

Dave, this is great. Please let people know, though, that they can never look directly at the sun!!!
