Christmas Snow not gone yet
In spite of the warm spells I still see some mounds of snow left over from the Christmas Blizzard. It seems to me that the day the last bit of snow melts in Lawrence is worth celebrating.
Where is the biggest mound of snow? Predictions for when it will finally melt?
Don't think this will melt by Sunday. (Kohl's parking lot). Taken Tuesday, March 2nd. http://media.lawrence.com/img/blogs/e...

My family live on the east coast
New Brunswick, NJ........2 feet on the ground and 1 to 3 inches overnight
Charlottesville, Va..........4 inches on the ground and 1 more inch overnight
Charlotte, NC.................none on the ground, but 1 to 3 inches overnight.
Charlottesville, Va has a mall called Barracks Road Shopping Center.
The parking lot has a corner where the snow has been pushed.
At various times this year, it has reached 40 feet. Now it is only about 25 feet high, but it is wider and more compact than ever before.

Estimations for melt are in June.
Yes, there has been a lot of winter all around the country this year.

The large snow pile in the Kohl's parking lot

I think it will be gone by the end of the day Sunday -- if it is 60 degrees as I just saw predicted.

I know Target had a pretty good one at the south end of the building. They also have some potholes at that exit that will eat your car. LOL. Not sure when it will melt but I hope schula is right and it's all gone by the end of the weekend.

There is still even ice on the road in the Douglas County Bank parking lot, exiting the ATM's behind Peer One! It must be shady there all day.
I agree that the pile on the south end of Target seems to be very slow at disappearing.

I just came back from a walk around my neighborhood and encountered a sidewalk that still had ice on it. It is on the shady side of the street. I guess I am in wrong in predicting that the big pile of snow at Kohl's will be gone by Sunday.
