Oops, excuse me for disengenuity
Well, actually I'm not referring to myself.
Some people would be really embarrassed if they were caught in the situation described in this NY Times article.
If those who are supposed to lead us can only parrot the words of those others...
Why is such an lack of integrity not a huge scandal?
How many of these guys will win re-election?
Is it just me, or is this really not a huge scandal? Or are our expectations so low that we really don't care.

Michael Crichton and Robin Cook have both written novels with just this scenario.
I find it appalling.
And, yes, I think that most people really don't care.

If you heard Dennis Moore's radio interview comments on the bill following the vote, you'd understand why this happens. None of the legislators want to look like an uninformed idiot who voted without reading the bill because he was told to by party leaders. (Except Dennis, of course.)

Hey, you get what you pay for.

"Hey, you get what you pay for."
Rank and file US Congressmen receive $174,000 base pay per year. Are we getting what we pay for?

"E-mail messages obtained by The New York Times show that the lobbyists drafted one statement for Democrats and another for Republicans."
(wry chuckle) I guess you can put me down in the "expectations too low" camp, Dave.

The lobbyist get them a lot more than that. That's why the lobbyists get what they want and not US.
Somewhat OT, but I was push-polled last night. Anyone else?
What was funny was I commented to the poller about how poorly worded and manipulative the questions were. She seemed to agree but had to say,"We're not supposed to comment on that." I guess she needed the work.

Cappy when I get pushed polled from whomever is doing it I always answer the opposite way expected. So if a push poller asks if I want to pay higher taxes for such and such service I say Of course I do. If I get a question saying something like do I think people's health should be at the mercy of big insurance companies I respond...Of course I do!
Maybe if enough people screw up these polls maybe this tactic will die a well deserved death.
