So Much to See (10/12/2008)

The leaves and other green things will soon be gone for the year so here's one picture of appreciation before they go.
Here's the complete image, finally identified by World Co. newsroom staff:

If you're wondering what the heck I'm talking about then I suggest you click on the link at the top to see previous installments.
This isn't really a game so much as an exercise in.... just looking around.
Here are the rules/directions/instructions:
I'll post part of a complete picture of some place or thing here in Lawrence (or the greater Lawrence area). Each day (or so) I'll add a larger or different part of the complete picture.
Your assignment, should you choose to accept it, is to identify the subject of the picture.
You can discuss your guesses in the comments. To be the "winner", identify your guess as "final" and, if you're correct, you'll receive the rewards as described below.
The first person who correctly identifies the subject and location will be notified by me that their guess was correct. After a day or so, when the subject is confirmed (although it will likely already be obvious), I'll post their name/username and it will be recorded in this blog for posterity.
What more could you ask for than that?

I am going to give it a guess, although I am probably wrong, but to me, it looks like the veranda at the Burford Watson park, between 6th & 7th, and Tennessee and Kentucky.
My final answer, and if I am wrong, so be it!

Another one that looks so familiar. Has anyone seen the garden behind the Golf Course Super. building off of Bob Billings? It looks like there, but it's been a year since I've been back there. I don't want to use my final answer just yet.

You should take a chance to go out there during the spring. My oldest had her senior pictures taken there and it was really awesome. I lived here all my life and never even knew it was there. I'm not sure what it looks like this time of year, if I knew someone who worked there that would be helpful. I'm still holding off also, punkrockmom.

Dave, I'm not sure where this is, but it is a great photo. I enjoy your column so much and it doesn't matter to me that I usually don't have a clue. Your column demonstrates how little attention many of us pay to details.

I completely agree, Alia:) This has really made me pay more attention to my surroundings when out and about in town. I love trying to figure it out and seeing others answers. Sometimes other peoples answers have helped me eliminate places. Keep it up, Dave.

Ok, I've thought about this long enough and I think my brain is saying stop. I wish I could get out and check my guess but it's just not possible right now. I'll just go with my gut and say Douglas County Fairgrounds. I'm not exactly sure but I think it's near buildings 1&2.
This is my final answer:)

Well, I don't have any other partial pictures left to add… so rather than post the complete picture, which probably won't help anyway, I'll give this hint:
North of 6th street.
I will post another hint tomorrow.

Since it is Friday I'll reveal that the collective newsroom is correct.
It is a nice little park east of Woodlawn Elementary.
