Well hellooooo Summer!

What a way to start the holiday weekend.

On Friday, the hubby and I dressed in our Sunday best (and by Sunday best I mean crisp t-shirts), and headed out to Downtown Lawrence.

First stop was The Percolator for an art show. This is one of the great things about Summer, is that I can expect more art shows and events in Downtown Lawrence. The place was hopping with friendly Lawrence folk, art and music.

I caught Whitney Flinn on the harp. Having never seen a harp player before, I was intrigued.

Here’s a clip:

She is talented, no?

After some mingling and joke-telling with the guests, we headed out to dinner. On the way, I saw these guys:

Now this is the second Friday in a row I’ve seen them at 8th and Mass. They’re severely entertaining, and as you know, I have a soft spot for accordions. When you see these guys, they’re usually surrounded by people. Children and couples can’t help but dance, everyone cheers at the end of each song, it’s definitely a good time. I’ll have to see if they’re out this Friday. You should too.

I have long awaited this Summer. Last Summer I finally realized how to get out and enjoy my community. And lo and behold, the city didn’t let down during the holiday weekend. From street musicians to shows, I can’t wait to see what lays ahead this Summer.
